FAQ
Your Umrah questions, answered
Clear, honest answers to what US pilgrims ask most before they book. Still unsure about something? We’re a message away.
Pricing & what’s included
Why do Umrah package prices vary so much?
Three things move the price most: how close your hotel sits to the Haram, the time of year (Ramadan and school holidays are peak), and how many of you share a room. Our per-person rates assume four sharing; smaller groups share the room fewer ways, so the per-person price rises. Flights, hotel rating, and the length of your stay account for the rest.
What exactly is included in the package price?
Every package includes your hotels in Makkah and Madinah, all intercity and airport transfers, Umrah visa processing, and 24/7 support on the ground. Premium and VIP tiers add private transfers and guided ziyarah in both cities. The quoted price is a land price; international flights from your US city are quoted separately and clearly.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. Your written quote lists everything included and everything that is not, with no surprise add-ons. The only items quoted separately are international flights (because they depend on your city and dates) and any optional upgrades you choose, such as a Haram-view room.
How much is Umrah for one person travelling alone?
Solo travellers usually share a room with other pilgrims of the same gender at the two sharing rate, add $200 per person to our four sharing prices, or take a private room at a supplement. Many solo travellers join our guided group departures for companionship as well as value.
Do I need travel insurance for Umrah?
Medical insurance is included with the Saudi visa itself. Separate trip insurance covering cancellations, delays and baggage is optional but sensible, especially for peak season bookings, and we can point you to suitable options when you book.
Visa & documents
How long does Umrah visa processing take?
Once we have your documents, the Umrah visa is typically issued within a few business days. We handle the application for you and keep you updated at each step. We recommend starting at least three to four weeks before departure to leave comfortable margin, and earlier for Ramadan.
What documents do I need for an Umrah visa?
A passport valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates, a recent passport-style photo with a white background, and your travel details. Requirements can vary by nationality and residency status, your coordinator will give you a precise checklist when you book, so nothing is left to guesswork.
Is Umrah open right now?
Yes. Umrah is open year round outside the Hajj weeks, and US travellers can obtain an Umrah visa through us or use the Saudi tourist eVisa. Entry rules and permit requirements evolve, so we confirm the current position for your exact dates when you book.
Can we go for Umrah without a package?
You can, independent travel on an eVisa is allowed. In practice, once real hotel rates, transfers and visa handling are added up, a good package usually costs no more, and it removes the paperwork and the risk of a hotel far from the Haram. We are happy to quote so you can compare both honestly.
Hotels & location
How close are the hotels to the Haram?
It depends on your tier. Vital places you a short walk or shuttle ride away, Premium within comfortable walking distance, and VIP just steps from the gates with Haram or Kaaba views where available. We choose hotels for proximity to worship above all else, and confirm the exact hotel in writing with your quote.
Flights
Are flights from the USA included?
Our headline prices are land packages, because flight costs swing widely by city and date. Tell us your departure city and we will include round-trip flights from your nearest airport in your quote, arranged alongside everything else so you book once and travel worry-free.
Family & elderly travellers
Can children travel for Umrah?
Yes. Children are welcome, and our Family Umrah journey is built around them, a family-sized room, child-friendly pacing, and one concierge looking after everyone. We will advise on visa requirements and the most comfortable schedule for younger travellers.
Can elderly parents travel comfortably?
Absolutely, and many of our pilgrims travel with parents. We can arrange hotels closest to the Haram to minimise walking, wheelchair assistance at the airports and sanctuaries, ground-floor or accessible rooms, and a gentler pace. Tell us their needs and we will plan around them.
Trust & booking
Why should I choose Al Omar Travels?
Because we treat your Umrah as a trust, not a transaction. You get one dedicated concierge from your first question to your safe return, hotels genuinely close to the Haram, fully transparent pricing, and 24/7 support on the ground. We are US-based and accredited, and we handle the visa, flights, hotels, and transfers end to end so you can focus on worship.
How do I reserve, and is my booking secure?
A deposit secures your place, with the balance due before departure, and you receive written confirmation of every detail, hotels, dates, inclusions, and price. You can start by requesting a quote or messaging us on WhatsApp; there is no obligation until you are ready.
Planning your trip
When is the best time to perform Umrah?
Umrah can be performed year-round. The cooler months from roughly November to February are comfortable and popular. Ramadan carries immense reward but is the busiest and most expensive period, especially the last ten nights. We will give you honest guidance on crowds, weather, and value for your chosen dates.
How far in advance should I book?
For most dates, four to eight weeks ahead gives you the best choice of hotels and fares. For Ramadan and group departures, book as early as you can, the closest hotels and the most in-demand dates sell out months in advance.
